Yes, I write this statement after a year that saw less than ten theatrical releases about black people, directed by black people. I know, it seems crazy. And still, I stand by the notion that this is an excellent era to make black film.

AFFRM @ Sundance 2012

On January 24, 2012, AFFRM held its second annual AFFRM @ Sundance dinner dialogue, made possible by BET Networks. We invited filmmakers, film artists and film advocates to join a frank discussion about the state of black independent cinema. The evening yielded bright ideas, shared experiences and new personal connections with the goal of furthering and fostering black film in 2012.
